L'ESTETICA DEGLI SPORT INVERNALI
On the occasion of the Olimpiadi invernali Milano Cortina 2026, I took part—along with 15 other illustrators—in the exhibition L'arte del movimento: l'estetica degli sport invernali, organized by MNT Journal in collaboration with Manifesto Blanco and Exhibita Studio.
Among the Olympic disciplines, I chose to portray one that will make its debut at the Games: ski mountaineering.
THE ILLUSTRATION
In this illustration, I combined two techniques: two-dimensional collage, used to depict the town of Bormio, and three-dimensional papercut, used to shape ski mountaineering. On one side, the village is rebuilt through solids and voids; on the other, a single large element breaks out from the surface—a three-dimensional mountain that visually conveys the physical challenge of this sport.
